 Community Standard Authorities

Community authorities are databases that are the standard for identifying a research resource for a particular community. Each RRID addition will be governed by the community authority, however if no community authority exists the RRID project will do the best it can to work with submitters to find a home for their research resource.

Our Community Authorities:

Antibodies: The Antibody Registry

  • URL: antibodyregistry.org
  • ID pattern: AB_####
  • URI pattern: antibodyregistry.org/AB_####
  • Contact email: abr-help -at- scicrunch -dot- org

Cell Lines: Cellosaurus

Core Facilities: Core Marketplace & SciCrunch Registry

  • URL: coremarketplace.org
  • ID pattern: SCR_####
  • URI pattern: https://coremarketplace.org/RRID:SCR_####
  • Contact email: https://coremarketplace.org/ (pop up box from the footer)

Software tools and databases: SciCrunch Registry

  • URL: scicrunch.org/registry
  • ID pattern: SCR_####
  • URI pattern: https://scicrunch.org/resolver/RRID:SCR_####
  • Contact email: rii-help at scicrunch.org

Plasmids: Addgene & DGRC

Note, there is no one authority for plasmids so Addgene and two drosophila plasmid repositories are the de-facto plasmid authorities. If you wish to create a new RRID, the plasmid must be deposited with one of these repositories.

  • URL: addgene.org
  • ID pattern: Addgene_####
  • URI pattern: https://addgene.org/####
  • Contact email: https://www.addgene.org/contact/

Biosamples: NCBI & EBI BioSamples

Note: Biosamples are not routinely turned into RRIDs, rather several individual projects defined under a "BioProject" entry have guaranteed the identity of the BioSamples listed in BioSamples and the lack of duplicate entries. These records are used to track samples generated mainly from human donors of various tissues. The BioSamples database supports their efforts and is the identifier authority, but the projects are responsible for the curation of their own data.

  • URL: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/biosample
  • Authorities: IIDP, JDRF nPOD, ADIIC, & HPAP
  • ID pattern: SAMN####
  • URI pattern: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/biosample/####
  • Contact email: rii-help at scicrunch.org

Organisms

Note: Organisms are generally represented by an authority for the type of animal, this is not always at species level as some repositories contain data from multiple usually related species. In some cases there is no currently funded model organism authority, but a stock center forms the nucleus of the community thus the RRIDs are generally cared for by the stock center and backed by the RRID project.

Authorities and stock centers are listed on the submission page and will not be listed here as there are many.
